Every 11 November, the nation comes together to remember and honor the service and sacrifices of our Veterans. Veteran’s Day means many things to many people. The staff of the Marine For Life Network, many of them Veterans themselves, reflects on what Veteran’s Day means to them.
“Living the life that I'm blessed to have in a country of opportunity.”
- Employment Resource Manager, Marine For Life Network
“To me, Veteran's Day is a time for us to reflect on and honor the sacrifices made by our heroic men and women of the Armed Forces. It's not only a time for us to pay homage to those currently serving, but perhaps even more importantly, a time for us to salute those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.”
- West Regional Network Coordinator, Marine For Life Network
“Veteran's Day to me when I was serving my country was basically just another day. Often on holidays, when I was in uniform and working, it was just another duty day such as Flag detail; Guard Duty and Charge of Quarters etc.
Now that I am retired, I can truly appreciate the day of rest honoring my 26 years of service in the United States Army for serving this country with all the other veterans who have served”
- Education Services Manager, Marine For Life Network
“For me, Veteran’s Day is a time to thank those fighting to stand as the American Flag passes by. To see the inner fire of patriotism and love for the Country they so valiantly served. Veteran’s Day is a time to pay tribute to those who have gone before and laid the foundation for the things that make our country the greatest country in the world.”
- Southeast Regional Network Coordinator, Marine For Life Network
“For me, Veteran’s Day has several meanings. One which I get to share in is the comradery of a brotherhood of men and women who volunteered to serve this great nation in the military unconditionally and who sacrificed all things most important to them knowing at any time they could be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice! It gives me a sense of pride and honor to be fortunate enough to be among such an elite group of people. Due to the sacrifice of all Veterans, I enjoy the privilege to sleep better at night, love unconditionally, and pray endlessly knowing this country I call home has what the nation refers to as VETERANS!”
- Northeast Regional Network Coordinator, Marine For Life Network
“To me, Veterans Day is a holy day where I reminisce of the truly great sacrifices, and in some cases the ultimate sacrifice that my brothers and sisters in service were willing to endure so that this country remains the home of the brave and land of the free.”
- Section Head, Marine For Life Network
