Set up a meeting or phone call with the School Liaison Officer to discuss your child’s needs, school options, and any concerns you may have regarding the transition.

The School Liaison will provide you with important information, assist with enrollment, navigate grade and credit transfer, and ensure that your child receives support to connect to new enviroment. The School Liaison can also help you facilitate communication with principals, teachers, or other school staff, making your child's transition smoother.

Before & After School Care

School Age Care (SAC) programs support your military family with after-school care, learning opportunities in a safe environment. Whether you need care before or after school, help with homework, or a nurturing home environment for your child, these programs provide safe and reliable options.

School Age Care (SAC)
SAC offers child care for kids in kindergarten through age 12, giving them a structured and fun environment when they’re not in school. You can rely on SAC for:

• After-School Support – Your child will have a safe place to go before and after school, during holidays, and over the summer. They’ll enjoy fun activities, make friends, and stay active while you focus on your work or military duties.
   
• Educational Services – SAC provides homework help, tutoring, and learning activities that support what your child is doing in school.
   
• Support for Military Families – If your schedule changes due to training or deployment, SAC offers flexible hours so your child always has consistent care.

Exceptional Family Members

The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is dedicated to supporting military families by ensuring they have access to the resources and services needed to thrive. We understand that navigating military life with a family member who has special needs can be challenging, which is why EFMP works closely with the School Liaison Program to provide seamless support for educational transitions, school advocacy, and special education resources. Together, we help families find the best-fit schools, understand their rights, and access individualized services that promote academic success and overall well-being.

How EFMP Supports Families:

• Lending Library – Borrow sensory tools, assistive devices, and educational materials to support learning and development at home.
   
• Respite Care Services – Provides temporary relief for caregivers, ensuring they have time to recharge while their loved one receives quality care.
   
• Assignment Coordination – Ensures that families are stationed at locations with appropriate medical and educational services for their exceptional family members.
   
• Advocacy & Support – Assists families in navigating the special education system, including IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) .
   
• Workshops & Resources – Offers educational sessions on topics like navigating the EFMP process, advocacy skills, and community resources.

By working together, EFMP and the School Liaison help ensure that your child receives the support they need—at home, in school, and throughout their military journey. We are here to support you every step of the way!

Family Child Care

Family Child Care (FCC) gives you in-home child care from trained and certified providers, often military spouses, in military housing. This program is great if you prefer a smaller, home-like setting for your child. FCC offers:

• Home-Based Care – Your child will be cared for in a safe, nurturing home setting with small group sizes and personalized attention.
   
• Educational Activities – FCC providers include age-appropriate learning, playtime, and rest in their daily schedules, helping your child grow and develop.
   
• Flexible Child Care – Whether you need full-time, part-time, or overnight care, FCC providers can work with your schedule, making it easier to handle deployments or unpredictable work hours.

Information, Referral, and Relocation

Moving to a new duty station can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Information, Referral, and Relocation (IR&R) services are here to help you and your family transition smoothly and feel at home in your new community.

Here’s how IR&R can support you:

• Relocation Assistance – Get guidance on housing, base services, child care, and community resources to establish stability for your family.

• Local School Information – Connect you to the School Liaison, educational resources, enrollment requirements, and district policies to ensure a smooth school transition.

• Welcome Aboard Resources – Access newcomer checklists, area guides, and personalized referrals to help you get familiar with your new surroundings.
   
• Lending Locker – Borrow temporary household items to make settling in easier while you wait for your belongings to arrive.

Marine Corps Family Team Building

1. Identify Individual Needs: Determine what specific support or resources you or your family require. MCFTB offers a variety of workshops, classes, and resources tailored to different needs, including deployment support, spouse education and career assistance, relationship-enhancement, and more.
   
   MCFTB professionals can help you identify your specific needs.
    
2. Connect with MCFTB: Reach out to MCFTB professionals either in person or by phone. They can provide guidance on available programs, workshops, and resources that best suit your needs.
    
3. Attend Workshops and Classes: Participate in MCFTB workshops, classes, and events relevant to your situation. These could include pre-deployment briefs, relationship-enhancement classes, pre-marital and marital workshops, relocation assistance workshops, family readiness seminars, financial planning classes, and more.
    
4. Connect with Other Families: Take advantage of opportunities to connect with other Marine Corps families through MCFTB-sponsored events, support groups, and social media platforms. Building connections with other families can provide valuable support and camaraderie.
