Welcome to MCAS Iwakuni! Join us to get a general overview of all the resources that will be available to you while stationed here.

The Welcome Aboard Brief is mandatory for all SOFA status personnel aged 16 and older, including those on TAD or UDP orders for 30 days or more. This brief is an orientation to life aboard MCAS Iwakuni, and in Iwakuni, Japan.

Monday

• 7:30 AM - 12:40 PM (Check-in: 6:50 - 7:30 AM; check-in is required)
  Command brief, MCCS Overview, CI Awareness, Station Safety, Wireless Devices, EEP training/SIP, Station Inspector, Station Chaplain, Family Housing/Environmental Program, PMO Pass & Registration, Medical/Dental, SJA/SOFA Brief, Behavioral health/Responsible Drinking, Culture and Awareness.
   
• 12:40 - 1:40 PM
  Lunch
   
• 1:40 - 3 PM
  Support Entities, Family Readiness/Library/Education/Career opportunities, VA, Family Employment Opportunities, Volunteer Programs, MCCS HR, Semper Fit, and Family Care Programs.
   
• 3 - 4 PM
  Newly arrived MAG-12 and H&HS service members must report to their respective squadrons in uniform (cammies).

Tuesday

• 1:45-4 PM
  SOFA permit test (as applicable)
  Note: The SOFA training class is not provided prior to testing. Please watch the video below and study the Training for SOFA License before taking the SOFA test. All questions on the SOFA test are generated from the “Training for SOFA License” material and the “MCAS Iwakuni Video”.

Notes

• Proper civilian attire or uniform is permitted to be worn by all attendees.
  • PT gear is not authorized. 
• Childcare is available through the CDC and SAC on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Registration is required at CDC and SAC before attending the Welcome Aboard.
  • Please download and fill out the Child & Youth Programs Special Event Childcare form. 
  • Please email the special events packet along with immunization and confirmation of allergies to the SAC or CDC, along with the date of the welcome aboard that the family is attending.
  • Please check in with CDC/SAC on the day of attendance.
