HQMC Seeks Nominations for DoD Awards Honoring Exceptional SAPR Personnel

The Headquarters Marine Corps Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) Section seeks nominations for two Department of Defense (DoD) awards that honor SAPR personnel. The Liz Blanc Exceptional Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) of the Year and Exceptional Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) Victim Advocate (VA) of the Year awards honor exceptional Service Members and civilians who demonstrate outstanding support of individuals who experience sexual assault and lead prevention efforts that go above and beyond their regular duties.

The awards are named for Liz Blanc who dedicated 15 years to the response and prevention of sexual assault in the Department of Navy and in the Department of Defense. Blanc was a SARC whose devotion and professionalism embodied what this award represents. She died in 2020 after a long battle with cancer.

The performance period for this award is January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022. Commands are encouraged to nominate deserving individuals, using the appropriate templates. They should email nominations to HQMC SAPR by February 3, 2023 at SMB.Manpower.SAPR@usmc.mil. Each question must be answered within the nomination template; a single narrative will not be accepted.
