NPSP Home Visits
What is Home Visitation?
The New Parent Support Program Home Visitors are Registered Nurses, Licensed Social Workers and/or Licensed Marriage Family Therapists. The purpose of home visits is to provide individualized parenting education and support to parents of young children up to age six and to help parents increase their parenting skills so that they are successful parenting their children throughout each stage of development. Home visits take place in the family's home. The frequency of the visits range from once a week to once a month depending on your family's needs and interests.
Home Visitors provide education on a variety of topics to include, but not limited to: age appropriate discipline, developmental screenings, managing sibling rivalry, effective communication with your children, stress management, toilet training, nutrition, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and deployment issues.
Some people receive parenting education, while others request support and encouragement regarding the challenges of parenting.
